TRIP #1 · 905 WORDS · A 3.5-MINUTE READ The full calendar | | | | THE CAMPFIRE | | | First issue, so here is the deal. This is a letter about what is worth doing between Lehi and Pleasant Grove, sent Thursday morning so you can plan Saturday. Nothing in it is sponsored yet, and it will say so when that changes. September is the good stretch here: jacket mornings, afternoons that refuse the jacket, and a three day weekend at the end. Everything is scheduled at once this week: a parade, food trucks in Lindon, eight hours of rocket launches and a luau. |
| | | | THIS WEEK'S ITINERARY | | | TRAILHEAD Lehi Heritage Day takes over SaturdaySaturday, all day, Lehi Heritage Day returns with a parade, honorees, prizes and a Marker Quest spread across town. Cost is not listed on the event page, so plan for the day rather than for a ticket. The Marker Quest is the piece to plan around: it turns the whole town into a scavenger hunt with prizes waiting at the end. Kids walk a long way between markers without noticing, which is the oldest trick there is. It is the pick this week because a family of five says yes and so do two people in a Lehi townhome with no stroller. The Historic Lehi Train Depot opens for the day too, and that one is further down the list. |

| | | | TRAIL WORK | | | | The 2100 North project is where this section will live most weeks, and it starts out empty. We print a closure only when two independent sources agree, and nothing did this week, so the drive home is still the drive home. |

| | | | S'MORES | | | SPONSORED Fueled by nobody yet. This slot goes to one local business a week, written by me in this voice and labeled sponsored every time it runs. No trades, no invented praise, and nothing I would not recommend to a neighbor. If that sounds like your shop, sponsor a Trip and I will send the rates and the reach, which is small and honest this early. One slot a week, labeled up front, and never more than one. |

| | | | THE LOOKOUT | | | It is a holiday weekend. Go early or go late, bring more water than the drive seems to require, and keep a second plan in the car. I have not driven American Fork Canyon this week, so do not take my word on it. Check the road and the trailhead before you load the whole family in. One more question, and it is a click, not a form. Do you run parade first on Saturday, or Marker Quest first? Both links go to the same Heritage Day page, and I will report the split next week. |
| | | | MAIL CALL | | | This is Trip #1, so the calendar is mostly mine and it should be yours. If your school, park, shop or street has something happening between Lehi and Pleasant Grove, send it to Mail Call. Dates, times and a link beat a description, and a photo never hurts. |
| | | | LIGHTS OUT | | | Most clicked last week: nothing, because there was no last week. The counter starts now. That is Trip #1, and it exists because I got tired of finding out about things on Sunday. I put Heritage Day on top because it works for every reader, kids or no kids. What should I be covering that I am not? Reply and tell me, then forward this Trip to the neighbor who plans Saturday on Wednesday night. See you somewhere on the parade route. |
