TRIP #2 · 923 WORDS · A 3.5-MINUTE READ The full calendar | | | | THE CAMPFIRE | | | September has done its usual thing out here: mornings that want a hoodie, afternoons that absolutely do not, and a car that now carries both. School pickup has a rhythm again, and Saturday is back to being planned by Wednesday. This week's calendar is loyal to one city, and the city is Lindon: a market Thursday night, a free picnic Saturday evening. The rest of us can drive over and bring the blanket that lives in the trunk. |
| | | | THIS WEEK'S ITINERARY | | | TRAILHEAD Lindon Park's free picnic, Saturday at 6pmLindon Park, 6pm Saturday: the city is throwing a free community picnic, and it asks nothing of you but dinner and something to sit on. Six o'clock is the friendly hour, late enough for naps and early enough to get everyone home for bed. The Lindon city listing keeps it plain: a community picnic for the neighborhood, starting at 6pm, no ticket and no cost. September evenings here give up their heat quickly after sundown, so pack a jacket and bring water. The park handles the rest. If you go: Lindon Park, Saturday at 6pm, free, and dinner is your department, not theirs. I am bringing folding chairs and a rotisserie chicken from the warehouse store, the same as everyone else within four miles of that parking lot. |

| | | | TRAIL WORK | | | | No verified road change came out of this week's sweep, so there is nothing new to report on closures or lane shifts between Lehi and Pleasant Grove. Anything that changes a commute lands in this section first. We check before we print, every time. |
| | Since we last talked: nothing in the sweep carried two independent signals, which is our standard for printing a closure. When an agency posts something real, this section gets long again, and we would rather be short than wrong. |

| | | | S'MORES | | | OPEN SLOT Fueled by nobody yet. This slot is open and unpaid, and when somebody does take it, it will carry a Sponsored tag every single time. It will also read like the rest of the letter: one real recommendation for one place we would send a neighbor, so email the camp if that is you. |
| | | | THE LOOKOUT | | | Two picks this week are outdoor evenings on grass, which changes the packing list. A blanket beats a chair on a damp lawn, a chair beats a blanket after an hour, so bring both. September mornings here are honest and the evenings are sneaky, so keep the jacket in the car. Sunscreen is still doing real work at 5pm, and so is a water bottle. Thursday's market runs to 9pm, and the last hour is cooler. I would take it over six o'clock every time. For Saturday at Lindon Park, are you a blanket household or a camp chair household? The click is the vote. |
| | | | FIELD TRIPS | | | | No field trips this week. Nothing arena sized or theater sized outside the footprint earned the drive, so the weekend stays between Lehi and Pleasant Grove. |
| | | | MAIL CALL | | | The good picks come from readers. If your neighborhood, team or city has something with a hundred people and a parking problem, that is what Mail Call is for. One question I want answered this week: Pleasant Grove or American Fork for a Saturday park morning, and which park? |
| | | | LIGHTS OUT | | | Most clicked last week: not enough clicks to rank yet. This week's are being counted. I have never been to a Lindon picnic, so I cannot tell you where the good shade is or which corner the kids take over. I plan to find out Saturday, chair first, chicken second. Forward this trip to somebody still deciding about Saturday, and they can subscribe at Happy Camper. What did I miss this week between Lehi and Pleasant Grove? See you on the grass. |
