THE CAMPFIRE

The forecast for Lehi Main Street says 84 and sunny today and 84 again on Friday. It is the second week of October. Tonight drops to 54, and Friday night holds at 58 under mostly cloudy skies.

Three of this week's six picks land on Saturday. The Scarecrow Festival is Monday, and the scarecrows, unlike the rest of us, are dressed for October.

THIS WEEK'S ITINERARY

TRAILHEAD

Viking Day takes over Pleasant Grove Saturday

Pleasant Grove holds Viking Day on Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and it is free. Vendors, food trucks and live music fill the day at Downtown Park. The city's recreation department puts it on.

Strongman feats are the reason it leads this trip. Nobody in the car has to care about Vikings to stand there and watch someone lift something heavy. It is the one thing on this week's list that works for every age in the house.

The power centennial runs three hours and the movie night starts at 5. Viking Day runs seven, so a nap does not cost you anything. Lunch is on site and does not need a plan.

LIGHTS OUT

My pick this week is Viking Day over the Scarecrow Festival. Viking Day is free, and the Scarecrow Festival is $24 for adults online. The strongman competitions settle it.

Thanksgiving Point members get the scarecrows free, so for them it is closer. That is Trip #5. Merge kindly on West State Street.
